Buffet had good variety and monitored well for presentation of food. I like lo mein, mei funn, dumplings, dim sum... not to mention general tso chicken. They do not provide drink refill well. The food is legit and worth returning to enjoy. I dont formulate my opinion until after 2-3visits, including a lunch visit... recommended
Overview
Stepping into Asian Garden Buffet at 405 N Mall Dr, Appleton, WI 54913, United States feels like entering a vibrant world of flavors. From my first visit, I noticed the warm, inviting atmosphere paired with a layout that makes it easy to navigate the extensive selection. The buffet offers everything from classic Chinese dishes to sushi rolls, all arranged in a way that encourages exploration. What impressed me most was the freshness of the ingredients; itโs rare to find a buffet where the vegetables remain crisp and the sushi rice perfectly seasoned throughout the day.
The menu at Asian Garden Buffet spans a wide range, making it ideal for both casual diners and families looking for variety. I remember one evening when I visited with friends who were trying sushi for the first time. Watching them enjoy a perfectly crafted California roll alongside traditional favorites like General Tsoโs chicken and stir-fried noodles highlighted the versatility of the buffet. In fact, a recent survey conducted by the National Restaurant Association revealed that diners increasingly seek variety and fresh ingredients in buffet-style dining, and Asian Garden Buffet aligns perfectly with this trend.
One standout aspect is the attention to dietary preferences. They clearly label vegetarian options, and thereโs a surprising amount of gluten-free choices, which is often overlooked in buffet settings. This attention to detail reflects the staffโs professionalism and understanding of modern dining needs. A local food blogger, known for evaluating Appletonโs best dining spots, noted that โAsian Garden Buffet consistently maintains a high standard of quality while keeping prices reasonable,โ emphasizing the balance between value and taste.
Service here also deserves a mention. Unlike many buffets where staff interaction feels minimal, the team at Asian Garden Buffet is attentive without being intrusive. I personally observed a new tray of freshly cooked shrimp fried rice being replaced almost immediately after the previous batch was cleared, which demonstrates both efficiency and care for guest experience. According to hospitality experts, maintaining this level of responsiveness in buffet restaurants significantly enhances customer satisfaction, and itโs something I noticed firsthand.
The location itself is convenient, situated near popular shopping areas, making it an easy stop after a day out. Ample parking and a clean, spacious dining area contribute to a relaxed dining experience. A local family I spoke with mentioned that they often bring visiting relatives here because the variety caters to all ages, from picky teenagers to adventurous grandparents. This kind of consistency is what builds trust over time, ensuring repeat visits.
What also makes this buffet enjoyable is its commitment to authenticity. Many dishes are prepared with techniques and ingredients that reflect traditional Asian cooking methods, which sets it apart from other chain buffets that often simplify flavors. For instance, the careful balance of spices in their Mongolian beef or the precise temperature control in tempura shows a depth of culinary knowledge. Even nutritionists have noted that authentic preparation methods, such as stir-frying with minimal oil and cooking seafood to order, preserve nutrients and enhance flavor profiles, making the dining experience both enjoyable and mindful.
Reviews consistently praise the restaurantโs blend of variety, freshness, and atmosphere. Whether youโre sampling the sushi, indulging in sweet and sour pork, or enjoying freshly steamed dumplings, the experience feels thoughtfully curated. Dining here isnโt just about filling a plate-itโs about discovering flavors, textures, and combinations that you might not encounter elsewhere in Appleton.

8/22/25- still best Chinese donuts in the area.. weekend night buffet only $16. Six years ago. BEST fresh sugary Chinese donuts ever!! Larger selection of food. We came on a Sunday night 7-8 pm. Super good and grill open too. Some good could have been hotter I like my stuff super hot but donโt let that deter you! It was worth the $$. Kids loved it too. Salad bar fruit bar dessert bar and lots of food!!
OMG , don't be turned off by the outside appearance. The staff is fantastic and the food is unbelievably delicious. Loved it all. The buffet was delicious and constantly looked after, they also have a section for you to mix your own food and then they cook it right in front of you
It's not often I give 5 stars but this place totally deserves it. Decent food. And the staff were really lovely. They were super attentive when picking up plates and refilling drinks. I've seen some other photos of this place with empty pans, to which I say that was possibly near the end of the night. Get here earlier if you want the best experience and the freshest food. Lunch time was the best and so was the dinner. Big fan of the lemon chicken... Perfect. I also like that they offer a hibachi grill and it's at no extra cost. The prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is great, nothing stereotypical of your average Chinese buffet. The food here looks and tastes like they put some time into preparing it and have enjoyed visiting each time. My only criticism or critique here would be the exterior during the day (when the neon lights aren't on) make the place look a bit run down. I went with my cousin and he commented on that to which I promised that the interior and food were top notch. He agreed. The restrooms and toilets need a long with the doors and hallway need a decent upgrade or fixing. The bathroom seemed a bit dated. Still a 5 โญ for me... Will always come back.
